The purpose of this project is to document the development of a resource guide for the HRD professional, detailing how to identify a funding need, a funding source, how to obtain a request for proposal, how to prepare a proposal, and how to lay the groundwork for successfully completing the grant project. The research conducted for this project specifically examines the skills and knowledge required to manage and to design the development of a grant proposal. Furthermore, this project reflects the analytical, business, interpersonal, leadership, technical, and technological competencies required of effective Human Resource Development professionals (HRD).

Assessment Of Graduate Human Resources Development Program For St. John Fisher College, Erin A. Glanton

The first formal assessment of the Graduate Human Resource Development program at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY is conducted and reviewed. This assessment from the learners' perspective is examined at five levels: Kirkpatrick's (1998b) four levels of evaluation and the fifth by Hamblin (1974). The five levels are Level 1: Reaction, Level2: Learning, Level 3: Behavior, Level4: Results, and Level 5: Ultimate Value. The assessment is conducted using self-report information about learners matriculated into the program, college-provided data about them, and input from their employers. The purpose of this retrospective case study is to (a) examine an organization's culture and its human resource (HR) practices and (b) assess those HR practices in light of the cultural change needed to remain congruent with its changing business environment. The reader will gain an appreciation for the retrospective value of Cameron and Quinn's organizational diagnostic tools as a means by which to understand the values orientation of their organization. A method by which to measure the effectiveness of their HR practices, using recommendations from Dave Ulrich, in driving and sustaining those values is also provided.

This study examines the satisfaction levels of employees at the Legal Aid Society (LAS) in Rochester New York. Employees satisfaction in terms of being satisfied or not satisfied with their job was measured using a survey instrument that consisted of qualitative and quantitative questions. The quantitative part contained 75 statements asking employees to indicate their level of agreement or disagreement on a six-point Likert-scale. This study investigates the contribution barriers to Action Learning play in limiting its use in United States organizations. Reviewing literature on current practices identifies barriers to Action Learning. Seven hypotheses are tested to determine if there is a significant difference between the practices used in US Action Learning programs versus similar programs in non-US organizations. Results of a survey administered to a sample of Action Learning practitioners did not substantiate any of the seven hypotheses.

Mentoring Programs Within Area Companies Compared To The Mentoring Program Of The Walt Disney World Company, Douglas C. Gardner

This study examines the characteristics of mentoring programs in ten organizations located in Rochester, New York. These programs were compared and contracted with the mentoring program employed by the Walt Disney World Company. Participants completed a survey on their mentoring program commenting on the components of the program, objectives promoted in the program, the average length of program and adjectives describing the program. This survey revealed that the mentoring programs in the Rochester area companies did resemble some characteristics found in the Walt Disney World Company's program, the biggest difference was found in why the program was in place.
