Research exploring the origins of the current mugshot process in the 1800's. The article reviews the role of French criminologist Alphonse Bertillon in standardizing the mugshot process in 1888. In addition to historic mugshots, the article chronicles many of the best celebrity mugshots in history.

So, you are sitting in class and listening to the professor’s lecture and pretty soon the professor’s voice starts droning on and on and you find yourself nodding off…your brain activity has started slowing down and you find your body muscles relaxing. As the class disappears around you, you have now entered the first stage of sleep from which you can easily be awakened. Suddenly, you hear your name being called by the professor and you jerk wide awake (called a myclonic jerk) and you ask the professor “Could you please repeat the question?”

Often code enforcement officers get caught in the middle of neighbor disputes and are caught in a dispute with citizens who are upset with their HOA or the City. This interactive program will teach the code enforcement officer how to put basic mediation techniques to work during those types of situations. The program will introduce the code enforcement officer to basic mediation and negotiation techniques including the role of a neutral mediator, new communication skills, interpreting body language and gestures, active and passive listening, diffusing anger, arriving at root-causes of disputes, remaining neutral, and achieving desired results. Efficiency in a changing world means lawyers use forms – practitioners use them, the courts use them, and nearly every industry uses them. It’s time we teach with them effectively. Westlaw, Lexis, federal, state and local
agencies, as well as local or national groups all have forms available. In fact, I found 3,048 forms on just one
website – the ABA!!! The primary objective of using forms in the classroom is to “think” about the form rather than just mindlessly “filling out” the form.

Conventional wisdom tells us that forms “stifle” the thought process, but I disagree. Conventional wisdom should tell us that the expanding needs of our changing world, set amidst the abundance of form pleadings and other legal forms in usage today, should stimulate the thought process. Law professors can and should use forms in law school to help students construct meaning from the forms that they will be using in practice.
