Certification and professional development are widely discussed topics in the field of adult education. What is less discussed is the role and impact of those topics for adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instructors specifically. This research examined the certification requirements for ESOL instructors to determine how those requirements could be individualized for full-time, part-time, and volunteer ESL instructors and tutors. The purpose of this study is to conduct a needs assessment based on employee perceptions of the existing new employee orientation at a University Health Center (UHC) in a medium-sized, Mid-Atlantic public university. Maintaining employee motivation and engagement on the job is important to organizational productivity (Groen, Wouters, & Wilderom, 2011; Leoni, 2011; Vroom, 1964; Wolf & Zwick, 2008). This study investigated the impact of positive reinforcement strategies on increased job performance. The data was obtained from mid-career, non-supervisory individual contributor employees at a Virginia university Facilities Management department, using a quantitative survey. The employees were asked to reflect on their perception of their own job performance, as well as the type, amount, and frequency of feedback they received from their supervisors while on the job. The Impact Of Educational Programs And Support Structures On Success In The Classroom For College Students With Learning Disabilities, Kendra Wynne Scott

This research explores and examines 1) the effectiveness of university sponsored educational strategies (formal and informal) for students with learning disabilities and 2) how individuals react to and manage their learning disability. This study is a mixed- methods design and uses surveys and interviews to collect data. Participants are college students registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) for academic assistance at a four-year liberal Southeastern mid-sized university. Results showed that when students’ utilized university sponsored educational strategies, such as assistive technology, note-taking skills, and other accommodations their self-efficacy and confidence increased in relation to personal classroom achievements.
