Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Questioning, and Transgender (LGBTQ) individuals comprise one to ten percent of student populations on campuses across the United States (Chopez and Chism, 1993). Research indicates that LGBTQ students, staff, and faculty face unique challenges during their tenure on college campuses, such as microaggressions from other students and faculty. More often than not, LGBTQ students withdraw from college due to micro and macroassaults (Pitcher et al., 2016).
College faculty and staff are often unaware of a student’s sexual orientation unless the student chooses to disclose. Quiet often, LGBTQ students closet themselves and outwardly display socially accepted heterosexual behaviors …
