In this research project, it was found that the pressure to meet accountability standards have intensified. The pressure to conform to testing curriculum created ethical dilemmas over the focus on curriculum or on test preparation. Educators are increasingly placed in an ethical dilemma of knowing what is needed to meet students' needs but rendered unable to meet those needs because of demands to conform to testing expectations under the new accountability system.

This study showed that emerging trends showing zero tolerance policies having negative effects on school children, especially those of poor and/or minority background, make an elementary district's recently implemented zero tolerance style for fifth and sixth graders an interesting area of study. The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of brain-compatible teaching strategies on continuation high school students. This was accomplished by comparing short-term academic achievement of one group of students, who received content utilizing brain-based instructional strategies, to a comparable group of students who received similar content trough traditional delivery methods.
