Two years on, the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to impact national education systems due to partial or complete closures of schools, or the uncertainty of school closures. To support education policymakers and stakeholders to build resilient education systems, the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Centre developed two practical policy resources – a Policy Monitoring Framework (PMF) and a Policy Monitoring Tool (PMT). Background: The results of monitoring the physical health of 16–17-year-old girls who became first-year students of Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy during 2016–2019 have been analysed in the article. Material and Methods: 1670 female students participated in the research. In the course of the research, the number of people belonging to the main, preparatory and special medical group was determined, as well as those who were exempted from attending physical education classes. In irrigated lands of the Aral Sea Basin, salt-affected areas are increasingly rising and this negatively impacts agricultural development and food security in such countries located in the basin. Drivers, increasing salt-affected areas, are assumed to be climate change, unregulated high groundwater levels and its increased mineralization, poor functioning of the collector-drainage system, and insufficient compliance with agro-technical requirements. Prior research suggesting that longer bilingual experience benefits inhibitory control and monitoring has been criticized for a lack of control over confounding variables. We addressed this issue by using a propensity-score matching procedure that enabled us to match early and late bilinguals on 18 confounding variables-for example, demographic characteristics, immigration status, fitness, extracurricular training, motivation, and emotionality-that have been shown to influence cognitive control. The Response Strategies Of Proficient Readers When Correcting And Attempting To Correct Miscues On A Complex Scientific Text, Stephen B B. Kucer Dr.

The Journal of Balanced Literacy Research and Instruction

This study examines the strategies that proficient fourth grade readers employ when responding to their miscues. Thirty-four students orally read a complex expository scientific text. The text was part of the fourth grade science curriculum. Reader response strategies to their miscues—corrections and attempts to correct—were identified. It was discovered that response strategies were either graphic or contextual in nature. As measured by Chi-squares, readers varied their use of these strategies. This variation was statistically significant at the p < .001 level for both correction and attempt to correct strategies. For both, the primary focus was on the word level. Existing research documents that as text complexity increases, readers have a tendency to rely on sounding out as a default strategy. As readers progress across the grades, teachers will therefore need to prompt the use more than graphic strategies when readers respond to their miscues. PURPOSE: Examine the use of the Zephyr BioHarness in monitoring and analyzing physiological parameters during a 12-week cancer rehabilitation program. The Polynesian tiger mosquito, Aedes polynesiensis, is a carrier of filariasis, chikungunya and dengue in American Samoa. The most commonly used tool for monitoring Ae. polynesiensis is the BG Sentinel trap; however, this trap catches relatively few mosquitoes and targets females searching for a blood meal. Recently developed gravid traps targeting females that have already blood-fed and are searching for oviposition sites may be a better alternative. One issue that has emerged from the study is the problem of managing student distraction. The school in this study has taken a proactive approach to managing student conduct on its own network. Metals smelting and processing has been associated with exposure to airborne inorganic arsenic and an increased risk of health effects. Biological monitoring on a metals processing site identified urinary arsenic concentrations exceeding corporate and ACGIH guidelines at levels associated with increased risks of health effects. Plant operators considered the inhalation of arsenic trioxide powder (As2O3), used in the process, as the source of their exposure. Monitoring Learning

This is a booklet describing the International Schools' Assessment (ISA), a set of tests used by international schools and schools with an international focus, to monitor student performance over time and to confirm that their internal assessments are aligned with international expectations of performance. The tests are designed and developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The tests address: mathematical literacy, reading, writing and scientific literacy. The booklet outlines: the history of the ISA; the benefits to schools; marking; test validity and reliability; and the schools in each country who are using the tests.
