Technology integrated, flipped classroom design offers opportunities to engage students on various levels and through meaningful ways. Introducing this learning environment to students at an early age is likely to change their motivation for learning towards physical literacy and influence their lifelong participation in physical activity. According to regulation 298 of the Ontario Education Act (1990), a primary role of educators is to ‘effectively’ instruct the students they have been assigned. It is my understanding that ‘effective’ teaching is more than simply giving the lesson of the day that aligns with the curriculum. As a teacher, I try to support my pupils’ learning by taking into consideration the best possible way to serve their diverse abilities. Spectator Age And Periodic Changes In Game Viewership: An Application Of Positivity And Life-Span Theory In The National Football League, Scott Tainsky, Jie Xu

This study examines the factors that influence sport broadcast viewership, exploring the relationship between spectator age, time remaining in the season, and team success. We identify the determinants of demand for two different age groups— youth and older adults—and analyze differences in the impact of team quality and playoff probability on viewership during midseason games and those during the stretch run of the season. Ordinary least squares models are used to estimate the effects and Wald tests to establish differences between groups. This study is descriptive qualitative with the grounded theory approach. INTRODUCTION Between the end of August and November, 1996, the Western Washington University Office of Survey Research conducted a survey of school principals and superintendents' offices in the Olympic ESD. The survey was initiated by Western Washington University Extended Programs with the goal of exploring the kinds of inservice training needed by science teachers in the Olympic ESD. This report presents the findings of our survey.

The goal of this brief issue of Focus is.to report our findings concerning the relative student demand for various possible extensions of library hours. Western's libraries have received requests and suggestions concerning the extension of library hours. The need to balance service to Western students against the cost of extending Wilson Library's operating hours called for additional information. At the request of the Acting Director of Libraries, Marian Alexander, the Office of Institutional Assessment and Testing and the Office of Survey Research undertook a brief survey to examine the likely value to students of various possible additions to library hours. …

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: During Winter quarter, 1996, students responded to a questionnaire concerning the expansion of Western's Summer Session to "year-round operation." They were asked how likely they were to attend Summer Session in 1996, and then how likely they would have been to attend if Western had an expanded Summer Session in place for 1996. Survey findings indicated that expanding to year-round operation would significantly increase the size of enrollments during the Summer, though Summer would remain substantially smaller than during the academic year. The increase in student demand was estimated at 1315 students, a 51% increase in Summer Session …

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Telephone interviews were completed with 42 Olympic Peninsula employers doing at least some work in the "environmental and resource management" area, along with much briefer contact with 42 other employers, establishing that they did not have employees in that area. Extrapolating results from our sample to all Olympic Peninsula employers involves a substantial margin of possible error. Even so, the report includes our best estimates of demand for personnel and training in Environmental Studies. We estimate the number of full-time Olympic Peninsula employees in environmental and resource management at 1,256. Another 882 work partially in the area. The …
