Following the end of the public health emergency of COVID-19, workplaces began to navigate the need to provide flexibility for employees who valued its positive effects on well-being and productivity. In hopes of retaining employees, many colleges developed policies and procedures for flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid work arrangements, whilst attempting to maintain in-person support needs. Workplace leaders are often torn between balancing employee flexibility and campus partners' expectations, and they face complexities such as manager bias and inconsistent policy application. Agential Cuts For Justice: Honoring Complexity In Research Through Intersectional Design Dimensions, Nadia Behizadeh

This article explores the complexity and challenges of making decisions regarding which theories and social categories (e.g. race, class) should be emphasized in justice-centered research that includes participants’ identities as key variables in the design. Drawing on theories of intersectionality, agential realism, and complexity, the author proposes four intersectional design dimensions to help justice-centered researchers honor complexity: reflection on self and purpose; making agential cuts; complexifying social categories; and intersectional and collaborative re-view. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges for educational leaders, particularly superintendents, who have been tasked with navigating the complexities of leading during a global crisis. In this study I explored the perspectives of superintendents on leading during COVID-19 and examined the application of Complexity Leadership Theory in educational settings. Through semi-structured interviews with superintendents from diverse districts, I investigated the strategies and approaches employed by educational leaders to address the multifaceted challenges posed by the pandemic.
