The present article contributes to the growing research on women’s centers to extend and encourage the role of feminism in women’s center within higher education. We provide a brief history of feminism and women’s centers in higher education to illuminate the connections between previous research and our women’s center research on community perceptions of feminisms.

Difficult dialogues are necessary work in order for communities to form coalitions, yet often these dialogues pose challenges for engaging in long-term work for social justice and systemic change. Power dynamics, microaggressions, and discomfort unlearning power and privilege can make long-term collaboration difficult. It is for this reason I discuss thinking of coalitions as communities of care and offer practical strategies for collaborating differently for sustainable action. Using Indigenous epistemology and methodology, Indigenous feminist and Indigequeer scholarship, as well as Indigenous land-based pedagogy and storytelling, I offer interventions using trickster teachings or trickster consciousness which I describe as comprised of …

The purpose of this qualitative study, using an interpretative phenomenological analysis methodology, was to identify if six women CEOs in New York State, who worked in the for-profit, not-for-profit, ambulatory and hospital, and nursing home healthcare subsectors of the healthcare industry encountered psychological barriers, such as low self-efficacy, low self-confidence, and low self-esteem, in their ascension to the CEO role, and if so, what strategies did they use to overcome those barriers. The purpose of this qualitative, descriptive phenomenological research study was to examine the factors that influenced school counselors’ beliefs in career and technical education (CTE) programs and how their beliefs influenced their recommendation of CTE enrollment to students in Grades 7–12. Using semi-structured, in-depth interviews, this study examined the lived experiences and beliefs of six Grade 7–12 school counselors that influenced their CTE program recommendations. The descriptive phenomenological design of this study explores the phenomenon of addressing implicit bias through professional learning structures. The study examines the lived experiences of educational leaders through their reflections of the experiences and how they make sense of the experiences. The purpose of this grounded theory study was to gather faculty chairpersons’ perceptions on higher education budget models and their impact on faculty innovation. The purpose of this qualitative, semi-structured interview, phenomenological study was to investigate the perceptions of collaboration between a total of 10 special education teachers and parents of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the elementary setting. Using a theoretical framework of survivance and strategic social change theory, the purpose of this ethnographic qualitative study was to explore and understand the Akwesasne Kanien’kéhaka Aunties regarding healing from colonialism through storytelling and photo sharing of their material culture and visual representations of their lived experiences. Hard-to-staff rural schools often struggle to attract and retain promising educators. Experts have consistently identified administrative support in rural schools to be of unique importance for recruitment and retention, yet a lack of clarity continues to surround the specific leadership behaviors that new teachers interpret as supportive. Veterans are an at-risk population when it comes to mental illness, substance use, and suicide. Veterans in recovery for mental illness or substance use can become peer support specialists and use their own recovery as a model to help other struggling veterans. The purpose of this cross-sectional quantitative study was to examine the stress sources, stress manifestations, and coping efficacy of K–12 teachers during COVID-19 with a sample of 220 K–12 teachers in New York State. Chronic exposure to stress can lead teachers to experience poor emotional and physical health, causing them to often exit the field of education. In addition, the effects of teacher stress can create a tremendous financial burden on school districts and negatively influence learning environments for students. The purpose of this descriptive, empirical, phenomenological qualitative study, using corporate social responsibility theory, was to gain insight on 15 private employers’ experience of mandated Paid Family Leave (PFL) policy within 17 counties in Western New York. Business leaders and human resource representatives were placed in focus groups, divided by industry. New York’s mandated PFL was implemented on January 1, 2018. In the United States, female underrepresentation has been linked to fewer women running for and winning elected offices. The purpose of this descriptive phenomenological study was to investigate female candidate recruitment by local political committees. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 25 female local political committee members from 20 committees in 17 municipalities across five counties in New York State. Public election data from these municipalities revealed low female candidacy rates and comparatively low levels of female representation. The purpose of this randomized, controlled study was to examine the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) intervention, on educator stress, well-being, and burnout. A total of 44 educators volunteered to participate in this study: 22 were randomized into an 8-week MBSR intervention using a 100% virtual platform, and 22 were randomized into a control group that did not receive the MBSR intervention. Preand post-intervention assessments were collected from each participant using validated scales that measured the participants’ overall well-being, stress, and components of burnout. Through Kouzes and Posner’s transformational leadership framework, this study examined the perceived leadership practices of secondary school principals in New York State’s high-achieving, high-needs rural schools. New York State’s rural principals face a variety of challenges to meet students’ needs. Rural principals are often members of smaller leadership teams, and assume varying leadership responsibilities with fewer opportunities to collaborate with peers.
