This paper discusses brain-based learning and its relation to classroom instruction. A growing quantity of research currently exists regarding how the brain perceives, processes, and ultimately learns new information. In order to maximize their teaching efficacy, educators should have a basic understanding of key memory functions in the brain, and how these functions relate to student learning. Due to these differences, current research shows methods of teaching should be examined and modified to accommodate both genders' learning needs. English Language Learners struggle on a daily basis upon entering United States schools. The delivery of ELL content has been addressed on a regular basis; however, the design of ELL curriculum does not receive adequate attention. In this project, the author created a Power Point presentation that assists educators with a foundation of origin for ELLs, addresses the need for concentration of ELL curriculum development, reminds the audience of textbook bias, and presents a variety of coteaching models. The presentation is designed for elementary educators, although it may be adapted to any level.

Effective science teaching is vital for improved student learning outcomes in primary school science. Therefore, there is a need to tease out the components of effective science teaching to better understand what effective primary teachers do in their classrooms and why they do it. Four primary teachers, each nominated as effective science practitioners by a professional colleague, entered into this research study. This 'entry' phase involved gathering information from classroom observations and teacher interviews to provide background information about the beliefs and practices of these teachers. This paper reports on the findings drawn from one teacher - 'Deanne'.

This covers the period prior to 2008. At its outset, this study explores the general context of the Roma in Cyprus and their identity as Cypriot citizens, their legal classification, cultural identity and population concentration. It then examines the legal framework within which the Roma of Cyprus are educated by describing the provisions regarding access to education, as well as recent legislation transposing the anti-discrimination acquis.
