"The Two West Africas: The Two Historical Phases Of The West African Brain Drain,", Amadu Jacky Kaba
"The Two West Africas: The Two Historical Phases Of The West African Brain Drain,", Amadu Jacky Kaba
Amadu Jacky Kaba
This paper argues that West Africa as a region is not only among the most underdeveloped or least developed in Africa, but also in the world. Part of the reason for the underdevelopment of West Africa is that it has experienced two historical phases of the brain drain (slavery and post World War II skilled exodus). As a result, the paper claims that among the most influential individuals in the world such as scientists of all kinds, professional entertainers, athletes, politicians, businessmen and women, etc. are people of West African descent who are not in West Africa.

Features Of Optimally Motivating College Classrooms: Perspectives Of Preservice Teachers, Donna S. Bogart
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
The primary objective of this mixed methods study was to explore the parameters of college students' perspectives on classroom learning environments. Specifically, the investigation sought to identify and describe the relevant features of the college classroom context that undergraduate students distinguished as promoting and supporting academic motivation at one four-year postsecondary institution. Secondarily, the study sought to examine the extent to which there was an association between the achievement goals students endorsed and their perspectives concerning the motivating features of the classroom learning environment. The nonprobability purposeful sample of undergraduate students consisted of 122 preservice teachers who were attending a …

The Effects Of Institutional Aid On The College Affordability Index And Student Body Diversity, Glenn Anthony Teryek
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
Tuition for higher education continues to increase substantially, causing colleges to be less affordable for many traditional college students and their families. To make higher education more affordable, higher education administrators provide students with institutional aid. Such aid is awarded to students based on merit or need, and the way it is awarded may affect an institution's affordability and student body diversity. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of institutional aid on the rate of tuition increase and the diversity of the student body at colleges and universities. This study was further designed to determine if …
