Two themes emerged from the data: (a) variety of learning experiences, and (b) impact of CSP experience. The data suggested that students derived a variety of learning experiences from the CSP. Academic Leadership In The Research University: Responsibilities For Faculty Governance, Michael Miller, Richard Newman
Academic Leadership: The Online Journal

Leadership By Design: How A Team Experience Shaped Teachers’ Views Of Themselves As Leaders, Elizabeth Gil
GSE Faculty Publications
When I began to consider what I felt was an important question about my school environment, I turned to my thoughts on leadership in my school building. I wanted to know: “How does a teacher’s level of involvement in planning or facilitating professional development impact his/her view of him/herself as a teacher/leader in a school?” As time passed and I refined my question, I specifically considered one group of teachers in my school. I wondered: How have teachers’ perceptions of themselves as leaders evolved over the course of their membership on the school’s Design Team. The Design Team is a …

Historical Study Of The Highlander Method: Honing Leadership For Social Justice., Joyce Denise Duncan
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Waging war against economic, political and social inequity, Highlander, founded in 1932 in Monteagle, Tennessee, near Chattanooga, served as a community-training center for southern industrial labor and farmers’ unions and as a major gathering place for black and white civil rights activists, even in those days when such activity was illegal. Teachers at Highlander believed in the capacity of people to educate and to govern themselves. Humanitarians or communitarians, those working at Highlander were concerned with the interrelated systems of class and race, which, they felt, consistently enabled a small segment of the population to exploit, dominate and oppress others. …

Do Principals Make A Difference? An Analysis Of Leadership Behaviors Of Elementary Principals In Effective Schools, Rosemarie Gomez Maciel
Theses and Dissertations - UTB/UTPA
Studies have shown principal instructional leadership behaviors to be a factor in student achievement. There has been little research on principal leadership instructional behavior in schools where the principal and student body are predominately Mexican-American.
This causal-comparative study examined the relationships among the school, the achievement scores of third grade students as measured by the reading portion of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) and leadership behaviors of elementary school principals. A key variation in this study is that the sample is entirely comprised of Mexican-American leaders of schools that have undergone (within three years after the naming of …
