Examining The Lived Experiences Of Undergraduate Transgender Students At Four Year Institutions In The South, Christy E. Heaton
Examining The Lived Experiences Of Undergraduate Transgender Students At Four Year Institutions In The South, Christy E. Heaton
University of New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
This qualitative, narrative study examined the lived experiences of transgender students at four-year institutions in the South. The college transition process and academic and social integration for transgender students was explored through the frameworks of Transition Theory (Schlossberg, 1995), Minority Stress Theory (Meyer, 1995; Breslow, Brewster, Velez, Wong, Geiger, & Soderstrom, 2015), and Academic and Social Integration theories (Tinto, 1975; Braxton, Hirschy, & McClendon, 2004). College climates can be challenging for transgender students, especially when campus staff and faculty are not prepared and/or aware of transgender students’ needs (Pryor, 2015). How students perceive their academic and social integration as well …

Mississippi Choices And The Influence Of Career And Technical Education, Charish Rene Pierce
Mississippi Choices And The Influence Of Career And Technical Education, Charish Rene Pierce
Dissertations
Mississippi counselors serve in a variety of roles in order to meet the needs of all students. The role of the school counselor is to execute efforts to address each student’s academic, personal/social, and career development needs (ASCA, 2005). Middle and high school counselors are often tasked with activities that do not align with national and state standards for school counseling. Thus, these activities generate very little time for activities such as the Choices program and career development.
This study examined the middle and high school counselors’ usage of the Choices program. In addition, the research study explored middle and …

According to the Leadership Challenge website the LPI tool has been translated into six languages. In addition, it has been implemented in a variety of organizations around the world and there are about 500 studies that have been built around it. However, the popularity of the LPI 360-feedback is not enough reason for it to be adopted for higher education without assurance that it aligns with a higher education organization’s specific vision and goals. After reviewing approximately 153 LPI studies across 766 databases …
