The purpose of this study was to investigate the role that wellness plays in relation to previously identified variables that have been predictive of students who dropout. These variables include student engagement constructs such as academic achievement and behavioral tendencies in school. The study included 563 public school students in grade seven through nine.

This study focused on participants who had not met their high school graduation requirements because they did not pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).
