The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate what influence, if any, mentoring a student teacher has on the self-efficacy of the cooperating teacher. In addition, this study investigated the influence of other student, staff, and school variables including teacher gender, years of experience, level of education, number of student teachers mentored, grade level taught, teaching assignment, and the percentage of students in the school on free and reduced-price lunch on teacher self-efficacy. The purpose of this dissertation was to conduct a study that explores the differences in self-efficacy beliefs among specific teacher subgroups within the elementary school environment. This quantitative study searches for the differences in self-efficacy beliefs among teachers who instruct mandated state assessment subjects and those who do not. In addition, this study also attempts to search for differences in self-efficacy beliefs among elementary general education teachers and elementary specialists. This study utilizes Anita Hoy’s Teacher Sense of Self- Efficacy Scale (TSES) to find the self-efficacy differences in three particular domains: classroom management, student engagement, and instructional strategies.

His social learning theory continues to have considerable influence in the study of human agency and in the related study of self-efficacy. A recent development in the study of self-efficacy concerns the perceived self-efficacy of school leaders, particularly of school principals. Researchers have developed instruments to measure this construct that identifies supportive elements associated with positive self-efficacy perceptions of principals. The purpose of this research was to investigate the correlation between holistic programs administered by local Nazarene congregations and any impact on self-efficacy in order to assess the programs’ impact on community transformation. The goal was to determine if faith has a positive impact on poverty alleviation outcomes and if local congregations can be at least as effective as secular agencies in helping communities make progress out of poverty.
