This paper deals with change and the inservice program that brought about the change. A log is included that documents the process from the establishment of need, through three workshops that direct the change, to the final writing of a manual of yearly goals and objectives for each teacher participant.

The writer of the paper is an elementary principal of a small rural school. The purpose of this field study was to develop a health curriculum for grades kindergarten through tenth grade of Teutopolis Community Unit School District #50. The reasons for developing this health curriculum were:

  1. To assure a continuous program of health instruction throughout the Teutopolis School System.
  2. To assure a program of instruction that follows a logical continuum rather than a repetitious one.
  3. To assure that students are familiar with the physical, mental, and social aspects of health.

The purpose of this field study is the description of a program involving a self-contained classroom for those freshmen entering high school who exhibit difficulty in adjusting to the high school setting. The Cooperative Education program at Lake Land College strives to provide training for students in any vocational/technical career. This is accomplished by individualizing curriculum plans using courses available on campus and securing a training station for them in local business or industrial establishments. Title VIII funding for the school year 1979 - 80 provided an opportunity to develop curriculum packages for ten of the most requested career areas.
