The Fact Book presents important campus information in data tables and charts. Included are details regarding students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Generally, data are broken out by college, rank, level, gender, age and ethnicity for both spring and fall semesters, past to present. There are a few academic year tables that include information on tuition & fees, student credit hours by program, and degrees conferred. Thriving Under Pressure: An Exploration Of Research Productivity In Business Ph.D. Programs, Ivana Milosevic, Ted A. Paterson, A. Erin Bass

Ph.D. programs have always been difficult and stressful. However, as a variety of factors have led to a tightening of the academic job market, there is increased pressure on Ph.D. students to conduct innovative research that results in top-tier publications. Yet, there is a dearth of research analyzing how Ph.D. students respond to these demands and why some are able to successfully translate this pressure into publications, while others are not. In this study we integrate literatures on job satisfaction, intrinsic motivation, engagement, and thriving in order to conceptualize and empirically test a model of research productivity in Ph.D. programs. …

While in principal the committee concurs with the vast majority of the recommendations from the self-study provided by the ACDC staff, it is abundantly clear that few if any of the recommendations will be sustained in either the short-term or the long-term unless there is a clear and articulated statement from the senior administration of the university (cabinet-level) signaling it’s support for and promotion of the importance and centrality of academic advising and career development as integral elements of the university’s strategic plan.

Student Support

Each year the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) asks students at hundreds of colleges and universities to reflect on the time they devote to various learning activities. The topics explored are linked to previous research on student success in college. UNO also participated in the Academic Advising module, which examines students’ experiences with academic advising, including frequency of use, accessibility, information provided, and primary source of advice. This report reviews the 2013 results for the university, compares the finding with our past results, and describes actions taken and proposed in response to the findings.
