ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement

This edition of AJCE brings together discussions on the various roles and effectiveness of research and community engagement programs in strengthening local identity, developing skills, and enhancing quality of life towards a resilient society. Expanding such roles, this issue consists of four research articles, one review article, and three case-based articles. The authors of this edition emerge from the background of language, engineering, economy, policy, education, and health, providing different outlooks and methods in overseeing the processes of community-related programs.

To raise awareness and understanding of maternal and children’s health, a team from Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia, conducted a program called Tinggi Cerdas. It is a community development program in Kampung Lio, Depok, West Java. This article evaluates the impacts of activity related to the participant’s awareness and knowledge about maternal and children’s health. The program was developed and conducted as an online program due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, from September to December 2021. Podcasts have become more popular in Indonesia recently. Studies have shown that video podcasts, which incorporate education and entertainment aspects, are effective as a medium to study language and medical subjects among students and clinicians. This study aims to analyze video podcasts’ utilization in nutrition education and how they can engage viewers from the general community. This study examined the effectiveness of “AKU PEDULI” psychoeducation in helping the parents of typically developing children to increase their knowledge of special needs children and inclusive education at an inclusive kindergarten. “AKU PEDULI” is abbreviated from Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus dan Pendidikan Inklusif (Special Needs Children & Inclusive Education). Quantitative methods were used in both the pre-test and post-test parts of the research.
