Spring 2023 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium
CALM SR is a program developed for 3-4-year-olds to increase successful participation in desired occupations due to improved self-regulation skills. This program is designed for implementation in a preschool setting over the course of 9 weeks. This program incorporates activities that target sill acquisition across multiple domains. Activities are supplemented by literature, visual displays, modeling, and facilitation of the self-regulation process.

It is widely known within the field of Early Childhood Education that play lays a foundation for life-long learning in a child’s life. Furthermore, the partnerships between a parent and educator are crucial for the holistic development of a child. This study explored immigrant parents’ perceptions of play-based learning and analyzed their relationships with their child’s educators. This qualitative study used a narrative design approach and collected data through semi-structured face-to-face interviews which took place with immigrant parents. This study has examined Preschool and Kindergarten educators’ perspectives on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support learning in the classroom. The purpose was to determine the factors that influenced educators’ use of ICTs in their practice, their views on whether ICTs enhances children’s learning and their value of ICT training. The data revealed three themes herewith detailed in hierarchical order, that educators’ perceptions were dependent on the tools’ effectiveness and applicability in their program; that there are varied perspectives on what constituted a technological barrier and a technological impact; and that participants’ concerns were based on …
