The project Making Cultural Heritage Artifacts into 3D Digital Objects Using Photogrammetry aimed to demonstrate that the conversion of analog materials into 3D digital objects is possible with the use of affordable equipment and the use of open source platforms for processing and editing. How does the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education function in relation to the information literacy standards used with students in K-12 schools and how does it inform academic librarians’ pedagogical strategies? While these documents are strongly related, there are large differences in their theoretical approach to information literacy, which are revealed in their definitions, treatment of dispositions, and approach to measurement. This leaves gaps in instructional approaches and student learning. Understanding these differences enables librarians in higher education to leverage the Framework to teach all students and fill in instructional gaps, regardless of how much information literacy instruction …

Preparing Science Librarians For Success: An Evaluation Of Position Advertisements And Recomendations For Library Science Curricula, Amanda Starkel, A. D. Oster, E. A. Overhauser, M. K. Palos, S. M. Powell, K. K. Sago

Science librarianship is a rapidly changing professional specialization that requires unique skills and experiences for science librarians to perform at the highest level. A content analysis of recent job advertisements was conducted to determine the most desirable qualifications for science librarians. It was found that the most frequently cited qualifications include formal education and professional experience, and also, significantly, interpersonal skill sets in areas such as customer service, communication, and teaching. Furthermore, subject-specific scientific knowledge and experience was also found to be desirable for science librarian positions or departmental liaison roles. These results suggest that library schools should re-evaluate their …
