Purpose of the Study. The purpose of this study was to determine if there was a need in the plastics industries in the State of Utah for plastics education at the area vocational school level.

Source of the Data and Method of Study. A list of companies whose major function was plastics processing was obtained from the Directory of Utah Manufacturers. Additional companies were also identified if they were suspect of having any type of plastics processing function within their company. A Comparison Of Job Satisfaction Needs Of Selected Rural And Urban Industrial Education Students In The State Of Utah, Alvin E. Lybarger

The purpose of this study was to investigate, compare, and analyze personal-social needs of rural and urban students who were preparing for occupations in the industrial education areas.

The study was a descriptive research which employed the survey technique using the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire. The questionnaire was administered to high school students in the state of Utah classified in two categories: 151 industrial and agricultural students enrolled in rural high schools and 91 industrial vocational students enrolled in urban high schools.

The fluid power systems equipment industry has shown a 117 percent growth from 1957 to 1968.

This impressive growth rate is critically affected by a shortage of competently trained workers.

The needs of selected Utah industries for trained personnel in fluid power were studied, and the results were projected from the sample to the state of Utah.

The skill levels most in demand were skilled, two-year technician, and semi-skilled.

Industries indicated that training to meet their needs could be conducted by on-the-job training, inplant schools, special schools, adult education programs, vocational high school programs, tow-year vocational school programs, two-year university …
