Due to the fact that many of the public high schools of Virginia have introduced into their curriculum a driver education and safety education program in recent years, this thesis proposes that it is necessary for a review of the developments, and a direct evaluation of the results of this program on the safety and traffic records of the state of Virginia.

Sattler Burns Anderson made a study of the Junior High School intramural sports program in the Richmond public schools. One of the purposes of the study, which was based on a questionnaire, was to get the student’s reactions to an intramural program. A large percentage of students participated in intramural sports (90.8 percent) and five main reasons were given by them for their participation: (1) to have fun, (2) to maintain better health through exercising in sports, (3) to improve athletic skills, (4) to maintain friendly relations with classmates, and (5) to compete against others. Elementary school teachers, including many with whpm the investigator has taught, have expressed a need for a group intelligence test that is easily administered and scored, easily interpreted, inexpensive, and relatively free of social status bias. The teachers have expressed a need for the best possible intelligence test that will assist them in predicting the success of the students in their future education in order to furnish for each individual student the best possible opportunity for growth and development. The investigator has noted an increasing trend toward placing children in class sections according to their relative potential abilities.
