USF OER Faculty Grant

Jamovi is an open source free software that USF staff, faculty and student can download to carry out any statistical analyses. The current report summarizes the progress made on an Open Education Resource Grant funded project, which aimed to created Jamovi tutorials. In this report, student feedback and faculty reaction are summarized after one semester of using the tutorials created.

There is concern over international students’ low academic achievement at the college level. Due to language challenges and cultural differences, international students’ academic achievement is not satisfactory that resulting in a decrease in the retention rate. Note-taking strategies such as the concept-mapping method may enhance international students’ knowledge acquisition by providing students with learning tools that promote meaningful learning. The purpose of this project is to create a comprehensive reading guide that provides context of and guidance in approaching applications centered on Mission and Values. This reading guide reimagines a mission-centered and Jesuit- focused review of the undergraduate admission application. Key components of the new reading guide including an outline of USF’s Mission and Enrollment Goals, frameworks on accompaniment and positionality, educational privilege and implicit bias.
