Abstract

Objective: Simulation is a widely utilized tool for training healthcare professionals. Research examines and details the benefits of simulation, although there is no recommendation for the most effective amount. This project aims to determine if increased amounts of simulation benefit nursing residents' confidence and self-efficacy regarding the deteriorating patient. Method: Based on a review of literature regarding simulation use, nursing transition-to-practice programs, and patient deterioration, nursing residents were exposed to varying amounts of simulation and asked to respond to questionnaires regarding their perceived self-efficacy, satisfaction, and self-confidence utilizing a quasi-experimental, comparative design approach. Abstract

Background: The demands of rigorous nursing education programs often cause students to experience high levels of stress and anxiety during their schooling. Moderate to high academic stress and anxiety levels impact nursing students around the world. This is significant as academic stress and anxiety contribute to decreased academic success, program completion, and student health.

Local Problem: Students at Kettering College and Southern Adventist University were found to have moderate academic stress and anxiety using the SNSI and GAD-7.

Abstract

Objective: The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) launched the next- generation NCLEX (NGN) in April 2023. Pre-licensure nursing faculty are unprepared for the change in teaching and evaluating nursing students' clinical judgment skills. Method: This was a quantitative workshop intervention with a pre-post survey. Intervention: Two-hour online and in-person workshops were held between August and October 2022 on how to create unfolding case studies following NCSBN’s clinical judgment measurement model.
