Founders’ Day

This recording contains the entire Founders' Day Convocation of March 18, 1969. The main address was given by William Arrowsmith, University of Texas Professor of Classics and University Professor in Arts and Letters. Honorary Doctorates were awarded to Ulysses Kay, Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY, Professor of Music ; and to astronauts Frank Borman, William A. Anders and James A. Lovell, Jr. (the latter two in absentia). Professor Kay's composition "Like as a Father" was played at this event. It was commissioned by the Collegiate Choir for the 1956 Symposium of Contemporary Music.
