Abstract
Background: Professional nurses spend more time with patients who are dying than any other health care professional. However, studies show that nurses feel unprepared, or unequipped, to provide adequate end-of-life (EOL) care to these patients, which has directed many organizations to dedicate resources to the development of effective EOL care education programs. Background: The requirement for all nurse anesthesia educational programs to transition to offering practice doctorates by January 1, 2022 signals a turning point in nurse anesthesia education.
