Feminists can fight sexism in religion without having to drop out of the church, said a UMO religious scholar Wednesday night. Professor Ralph Hjelm, chairman of the philosophy department, spoke on sexism in western religions before about 45 people in the English/Math building.

She lived in the dormitories for two years before moving off campus. But Kathy hasn't had the typical college career. In April of 1981, her sophomore year, she had an experience most women don't even joke about. She was raped in her dorm room.

Five percent of respondents reported being sexually harassed.

Four UMaine trustees interviewed said they were against the apartheid practices in South Africa, but only one said he would definitely vote to divest from companies with branches in that country. "I am strongly opposed to the policies of government in South Africa, and as a trustee of the University of Maine I will vote for total divestment of funds from companies with holdings in that country," said Alan M. Elkins, a trustee from Portland, Maine.

While X-rated movies raise eyebrows in some circles, the consensus among eight people interviewed Thursday, indicates there is little opposition among students to pornographic films being shown on campus. This Saturday the second X-rated film to come to campus this year. The Devil and Miss Jones, will be shown and at least seven UMO students think it's fine.
