Across the international higher education spectrum access represents a significant issue. The literature is replete with analyses of access in various higher education systems. Low and inequitable patterns of participation in higher education are particularly prominent in developing countries. Preventing Schools From Becoming The Pipeline To Prison, Susan P. Leviton, Justin A. Browne

This article looks at the education plight of low income children and explores the cost of mis-education of these individuals. The students in these failed urban schools share certain commonalities. Poverty influences how these students approach writing, speak to their teachers and other adults and how they handle conflict. Thus, these children need school and community based reforms which provide more personalized educational opportunities and a conscious effort to specifically teach the behavioral values and character skills that students need to be successful. The purpose of this study was to take a deeper look at the influence of an important American historical figure, Thomas Jefferson, on the institution of the American Educational System. Thomas Jefferson was involved in many decisions involving the traditions, practices and institutions of many educational establishments of his time period. His writings have had a lasting influence on our society and the world. His words have been incorporated into many different countries' constitutions across the world.
