Some researchers have recognized the importance of understanding women’s experiences. Some psychosocial characteristics, such as low levels of self-esteem and self-efficacy, and low success expectations have been identified as barriers for women’s career development (Betz, 1994). Because many women have continued to select careers that are considered as female-dominated (e.g., teaching) and because psychosocial characteristics and experiences of teachers such as self-esteem and the impostor phenomenon can have an influence on their students’ self-esteem, this researcher believed that this is an important topic for continued research. The Relationship Between Student-Teacher Ratio And Academic Readiness In West Virginia Preschool Programs, Michael A. Smith

The current study investigated the relationship between student-teacher ratio and academic readiness in West Virginia preschool programs. Data from 47 preschoolers enrolled in 14 Educare programs in West Virginia was examined. Scores from the School Readiness Composite (SRC) of the Bracken Basic Concepts Scale-Revised (BBCS-R) were compared with observed student-teacher ratios. Data analysis yielded a statistically insignificant correlation coefficient of -.061. However, due to limitations inherent in the data set and the abundance of research contradicting these findings, it is unlikely that the data presented here offers an accurate picture of the general relationship between academic readiness and student-teacher ratio.

The purpose of this project was to explore ways to answer the question, “What did the students learned and how do I know?” in and advanced-level English class. Counseling-Learning/ Community Language Learning’s SARD paradigm (Security, Attention, Assertion, Retention, Reflection, and Discrimination) was used as the framework for lesson planning and reflection after each lesson.

Data was collected in a teaching journal using the standard action research methods of lesson planning, teaching the lesson, reflecting on it, and making a new plan based on the reflections.

The purpose of this study was to examine how three Black female teachers and three White female teachers of kindergarten, first grade, and eighth grade understand the connections between their racial identity and their teaching practices . Specifically, it sought to understand how they experience their first awareness of racial difference and the influence their family, community, and school had on their construct of race. Also, how their preparation to teach reinforced, expanded, altered, or demystified their understanding of racial differences as a means to teach all children .
