Clinical Supervisors' Knowledge Of Supervisees With Problems Of Professional Competency, Maribeth Jorgensen, Kathleen Brown-Rice, Seth D. Olson

In this exploratory study, the authors surveyed clinical supervisors (n = 138) regarding their knowledge of their supervisees’ problems of professional competency (PPC). Findings suggest the majority have observed a supervisee with PPC working towards licensure. Further, those that have supervised a supervisee with PPC have been negatively impacted by these interactions (e.g., increased their workload, increased their stress).

A Survey Of Students’ Knowledge About Child Sexual Abuse And Perceived Readiness To Provide Counseling Services, Jennifer Marie Foster

Master's level students in counselor education and counseling psychology (N = 304) were surveyed to explore their knowledge about child sexual abuse (CSA) and perceived readiness to provide related counseling services. While students demonstrated general knowledge about sexual abuse, preparedness to counsel was rated much lower with 69% of students indicating low levels of competency. Data was analyzed to explore demographic characteristics that led to increased readiness scores. Indicators of statistically significant higher readiness scores included: prior work or volunteer experience with victims of sexual abuse, participation in CSA trainings, and supervised field experience. Effectiveness Of The Counselor Feedback Training Model, Jacqueline M. Swank, Shannon Mccarthy

The Counselor Feedback Training Model (CFTM) was designed to explore beliefs about feedback and develop feedback skills. This study examined the effectiveness of using the CFTM with beginning counseling students (N = 68). The researchers found that students’ self-efficacy and openness to feedback improved following participation in the CFTM.
