In March of 2020, the world entered the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving educators to answer the question, "how do we teach in a virtual environment?". This was especially difficult for deeply rooted STEM programs such as Graphic Communications at Clemson University. This research aims to analyze multiple methods of virtual teaching for correlation between enhanced retention rates.

For many students across the United States, their last day on school campuses was the week before spring break of 2020. Due to the rising concern over COVID-19, most schools across PK to higher education moved to remote learning. This article is a critical reflection by the author in which she shares her experiences as a professor in higher education at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Threshold Concepts (TCs) framework posits characteristics of critical concepts that enable a learner to see things in a new and unforgettable way that allows the incorporation of cognitive approaches and skills needed by professionals in the discipline. All previous research has been qualitatively oriented toward discovery of candidate TCs, without, so far, quantitative studies of the candidate TCs recognition within the professional ranks. An underrepresented group in previous research is that of Web development professionals.

The concept of empathy, commonly used in user experience (UX) design, has gained traction in distance education communities (Matthews et al., 2017). Empathy offers designers insight into users and their contexts (Neubauer et al., 2017) and helps designers “understand how instruction would be experienced” (Parrish, 2006), thus improving the overall outcome (Lewis & Contrino, 2016; Neubauer et al., 2017; Parrish, 2006). UX designers use a visualization tool called empathy mapping to chart information about their users. Exploring Neurocognitive Processes That Underlie Reading Performance In Children: A Foundational Study, Ayan Mitra

With advancement in brain research, neuroscience researchers have collectively informed our understanding of reading-related processes. Despite an extensive body of literature, many educators are not aware of specific neuroimaging findings related to phonological processing and word reading. Therefore, the study builds on this body of research by exploring the connection between the brain and reading scores. Quantitative EEG and standardized academic achievement analyses were performed on 60 school-aged children. Intrahemispheric coherence analysis at rest were conducted across the sample of participants and several coherence networks were extracted and compared to standardized reading achievement scores.
