The writer proposes the utilization of a developmentally based outdoor curriculum and playground designed for young children. The curriculum consists of an overview, objectives, curriculum methodology, playground designs and evaluation. Cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains are each included in the objectives. A curriculum methodology focusing upon approaches for individualization and development of the total child is presented. The playground designs are based upon current research. Play value, development appropriateness and safety were considered in developing playground designs and curriculum. A study is made of Gordon J. Klopf, the educator, focusing on the years that he has been at Bank Street. His approach, method and style of working with adult learners are examined, from the time he left Teacher's College in the 1960's to come to work at Bank Street. The role that he played in developing various programs is discussed as well as the effect that his teaching has had on the personal and professional development of educational staff at all levels. Technology And Its Implications For Early Childhood Educators: Considering The Microcomputer In The Kindergarten, Linda Lasalle Campbell

Kindergarten teachers can effectively and sensitively integrate the microcomputer into a curriculum which strives to meet the needs of the total child. This study indicates, through a review of professional journals and current books on the microcomputer in education, the need for technological skills. It demonstrates the presence of microcomputers in today's schools, even in the early years. Uses of the microcomputer in the kindergarten classroom are presented for consideration. Recommendations are included which call for informed and caring teachers to use the microcomputer to meet the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the individual child.
