Ccure: Campus & Community United For Recovery Efforts, Alexandra Schmied

The CCURE pilot program combats historical stigma and the current lack of support for students in recovery from Substance Use Disorder during their collegiate careers. Using the ideas of Paulo Freire and Michael Oakeshott, the author’s philosophy states education should be continual, communal, and accessible. The CCURE program intervention outlines a Living Learning Community in a six-bed recovery house on campus in conjunction with a seminar course taught by campus partners.
