The Effects Of Resistance Training On Jumping And Selected Power Variables Of The Lower Limbs In Female Soccer Players, Tomasz Chamera, Magdalena Prończuk, Piotr Smok, Miłosz Drozd, Małgorzata Michalczyk, Adam Maszczyk

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Introduction: The aim of the study was to compare the effects of a 6-week intervention of combined soccer training with resistance training on strength and power variables in highly trained female soccer players. It was hypothesized that 6 weeks is sufficient for a significant improvement in jumping ability and power to occur due to the intervention. The study involved 34 female soccer players of the top women’s league (22 ± 5 years old, body height 167 ± 5 cm, body weight 60 ± 8 kg). The players were divided into two groups of 17 participants. The control group performed 3 …

Methodological Characteristics, Physiological And Physical Effects, And Future Directions For Velocity-Based Training In Soccer: A Systematic Review, Jorge Ribeiro, José Afonso, Miguel Camões, Hugo Sarmento, Mário Sá, Ricardo Lima, Filipe Manuel Clemente Sep 2022

Methodological Characteristics, Physiological And Physical Effects, And Future Directions For Velocity-Based Training In Soccer: A Systematic Review, Jorge Ribeiro, José Afonso, Miguel Camões, Hugo Sarmento, Mário Sá, Ricardo Lima, Filipe Manuel Clemente

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Introduction. This systematic review was conducted to (1) characterize the main elements of studies of velocity-based training (VBT) (e.g., training protocols) conducted in soccer, (2) summarize the main physiological and physical effects of VBT on soccer players, and (3) provide future directions for research. Methods: A systematic review of Cochrane Library, EBSCO, PubMed, Scielo, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science databases was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Results: The database search initially identified 127 titles. Of those, five articles were deemed eligible for the systematic review, two studies used a traditional …

The Effect Of Specific Strength Training On The Quality Of Gymnastic Elements Execution In Young Gymnasts, Stanislaw Zasada, Mariusz Zasada, Andrzej Kochanowicz, Bartlomiej Niespodzinski, Michal Sawczyn, Viktor Mishchenko Mar 2022

The Effect Of Specific Strength Training On The Quality Of Gymnastic Elements Execution In Young Gymnasts, Stanislaw Zasada, Mariusz Zasada, Andrzej Kochanowicz, Bartlomiej Niespodzinski, Michal Sawczyn, Viktor Mishchenko

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The aim of the study was to determine the effect of specific gymnastics strength training on the quality of technical indicators of gymnastic elements in young gymnasts. Material/Methods: The study involved 24 gymnasts aged 12-13 years (n = 11) and 13-15 (n = 13). Among the participants were the winners and medalists of the Polish Championship competitions. The duration of the gymnasts’ sports training was 5-8 years. We evaluated the impact of changing the strength capabilities by using a specific strength training program in order to improve the quality of the performance of selected gymnastic elements. Indicators of maximum …

The Effect Of Rest Interval Length On The Repetitions Recovery During Lower Body Resistance Exercises, Hamid Arazi, Morteza Sangdevini, Mohammad Reza Hossein Abadi, Amin Sohbatzadeh Mar 2022

The Effect Of Rest Interval Length On The Repetitions Recovery During Lower Body Resistance Exercises, Hamid Arazi, Morteza Sangdevini, Mohammad Reza Hossein Abadi, Amin Sohbatzadeh

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The purpose of the current study was to compare the effect of two different rest intervals on the number of repetitions performed in lower body resistance exercises in consecutive sets. Material/Methods: 12 trained men (age 22.85 ±1.7 yrs; height 175.63 ±4.6 cm; weight 75.54 ±4.8 kg) volunteered to participate in the study. The subjects completed two experimental sessions that consisted of 6 lower body exercises for 3 sets with 8RM (repetition maximum) load. The two experimental sessions differed only in the length of the rest interval between the sets and exercises: one session with 1-minute and the other sessions …

A Preparation Cycle In Strength Training As A Form Of Health Training For Adults, Malgorzata Kalwa, Tadeusz Stefaniak, Dariusz Harmacinski, Bartosz Groffik Mar 2022

A Preparation Cycle In Strength Training As A Form Of Health Training For Adults, Malgorzata Kalwa, Tadeusz Stefaniak, Dariusz Harmacinski, Bartosz Groffik

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: ‪The authors assume that 8-month systematic physical activity with individually selected resistance of progressively increasing volume and intensity will counteract the processes related to regress of motricity and the unfavourable change of body composition in people over 40 years old. Material and methods: ‪The research involved 178 persons (92 women and 86 men) aged 40–61 years old. The participants pursued training with small and medium weights, broken down into a younger (40–50 years) and an older (51–61 years) group. The workout plan was modelled on the adaptive strength training method (ASTM), which is used by weightlifters and bodybuilders. The …

The Impact Of Strength Training On The Improvement Of Jumping Ability And Selected Power Parameters Of The Lower Limbs In Soccer Players, Patricia Fischerova, Magdalena Nitychoruk, Wojciech Smolka, Marcin Zak, Artur Golas, Adam Maszczyk

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Introduction: The aim of the study was to compare the impact of a 6-week program combined with football training and strength training on strength and power parameters in highly trained soccer players. It was hypothesized that 6 weeks would be enough for the experimental group to improve their jumping ability and pushing power.Material and methods: The study involved 34 female footballers playing in Ekstraliga (age: 22 ± 5 years; body height: 167 ± 5 cm; body weight: 60 ± 8 kg). The contestants were divided into an experimental group and a control group of 17 people in each group. The …
