Are there specific roots that influence the introduction and incorporation of discriminatory medical policies? What are the sources of such stigma, discrimination, and prejudice, in what forms does such discrimination take place, and what negative impacts does such hatred have on health outcomes, quality of care, and health disparities? This autoethnography is about different points in my life where I committed microaggressions towards the LGBTQ+ community specific to different genders, sexual orientations and/or how people in the community present themselves. I use “thick intersectionality” ‒ an embodied exploration of the complex particularities of individuals’ lives and identities associated with their race, class, gender, sexuality, and national locations ‒ as a means of portraying my message, voicing the emotions that I felt, and the identity I occupied at that moment. An Oral History Of Homophobic Bullying In All-Deaf Schools And Mainstream Schools: The Experiences Of Deaf Lesbian And Gay Persons, Andrew D. Biskupiak

Deaf lesbian and gay individuals encounter homophobic bullying when receiving their high school education at all-deaf and/or mainstream schools, yet their experiences of homophobic bullying continue to be insufficiently documented and reported in the existing literature. Using oral history interviews with ten deaf lesbian (n=4) and gay students (n=6) attending Gallaudet University, this report documents the interviewees’ personal narratives of homophobic bullying in high school and examines the prevalence and impact of verbal and physical abuses as two forms of homophobic bullying.
