The Level Of Pedagogical Content Knowledge Of In-Service English Language Teachers In A Foreign Language Context, Dima Hijazi, Amal Al-Natour

The aim of this study is to find out the level of pedagogical content knowledge of inservice English language teachers in a foreign language context. The data were collected from 9 in-service English language teachers’ responses on five open-ended grammar, pronunciation and writing problems. The results show that Jordanian English language teachers don’t know enough about what they teach. Furthermore, they show that the integration between what teachers know about what they teach and about the process of teaching and how to teach (PCK) isn’t adequate enough (with a medium level).

Social media, Twitter in particular, have been a tool used by politicians to voice their thoughts and make a stand. Political figures sometimes use social media, including Twitter, as an instrument to distort the face of their rivals by employing linguistic impoliteness. The present study aims to analyze some of President Donald Trump’s impolite tweets. Methodologically, Brown and Levinson’s (1987) model of politeness is taken as the main reference of understanding and explaining the face-threatening acts that target the addressee’s face, and Culpeper’s (1996) framework to classify impoliteness strategies. التدريس مهنة إنسانيّة جليلة، يتشرّف بها كلّ إنسان يعمل فيها، حيث تُلقى على المعلّمين مسؤوليّة إعداد الأجيال النافعة لنفسها ومجتمعها، لذلك لا بدّ من وجود المعلّم الكُفْء الذي يعمل على إيصال المعلومات إلى طلّابه بسهولة ويسر، وعلى قدرته وفاعليّته تعتمد مُخرَجات النظام التربوي اعتماداً كبيراً.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of a proposed learner- centered instructional program on Jordanian EFL tenth grade students’ achievement. The population of the study consisted of (374) tenth grade students in Jordanian public schools in Bani Kenaneh Directorate of Education in the academic year 2012/2013.
