Educators are striving to use instructional methods that engage and motivate students in online coursework. Recent studies have not addressed whether the use of games as an instructional strategy is associated with improving students' motivation and engagement to learn at the community college level. Many veterans pursue college degrees using their inservice higher education benefits and enroll in universities around the world. However, many of these veterans also begin their higher education with mental and physical disabilities that limit their ability to attend brick and mortar college classrooms. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore veteran students’ experiences in collegiate online learning.
