The Relationship Between Conceptual Level And Moral Development Of Substance Abuse Prevention Professionals Working In Higher Education And Their Comprehensiveness Of Programming, Mary Katherine Crozier

Alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are prevalent on American college and university campuses. The higher education literature is replete with research on prevalence rates (Presley, Meilman, and Cashin, 1998; Wechsler, Lee, Kuo, and Lee, 2000), substance abuse prevention theories (Gonzales, 1994), history of substance abuse prevention (O'Bryan and Daughtery, 1992), and descriptions of prevention programming (anderson and Milgram, 1996; Mills-Novoa, 1994). Variation In Research Assignments Across The Community College Curriculum, Patricia Ann Hadjibabaie
Theses Digitization Project
This thesis aims to show ways in which research assignments vary, despite the oft-held assumption that these assignments are fundamentally the same, regardless of discipline. for this purpose, research assignments were collected from insructors at one community college. These assignments were analyzed in terms of the following six dimensions: assignment title; topic selection; purpose; approach; format; and source requirements. The assignments were then examined for patterns in their variations across the disciplines, and across instructors within the same discipline. The findings reveal variation along each of the six dimensions. Assignment titles were perhaps the most variable; in fact, in many …

The Impact Of The College Experience On The Lives Of Female Single-Parent Students, Elizabeth Darby Watson
The Impact Of The College Experience On The Lives Of Female Single-Parent Students, Elizabeth Darby Watson
Dissertations
Problem. Poverty affects all people groups, but women are systematically poorer than men are. The feminization of poverty aptly defines the plight and consequence of women's poverty. In the United States the current federal mandate requires all able-bodied adults to be gainfully employed. Minimum-wage jobs, for unskilled and untrained workers, do not move poor women and their families out of poverty.
Method. This study used quantitative and qualitative data to explore the impact of the college experience on 56 single parents who had attended a tuition-driven, faith-based college during the 10-year period of 1987-1997. Responses from a mailed questionnaire and …

The purpose of this study is to determine what relationships exist among current fund revenues, current fund expenditures, long-term debt, and endowment value for public four-year colleges and universities, for fiscal years 1992 through 1997. An important objective of the study is to "let the data speak for itself." The research questions focused on trends among the four variables; whether long-term debt displaced some portion of current fund revenue and whether endowment value influenced this relationship; whether institutions incurred more debt when their revenues and endowment values have been increasing; and whether revenues failed to keep pace with institutions' needs …

This document outlines the foundation and first year results of the H.E.L.P. Honduras organization, which was formed as a student-based, student-governed international outreach initiative at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.
