From Socrates To Leonardo: Integrating Education In The European Union, Kara P. Wegener
From Socrates To Leonardo: Integrating Education In The European Union, Kara P. Wegener
Masters Theses
This thesis examines French education policy in response to European Union (EU) initiatives since the 1970's. It demonstrates that policy-making at the EU and national level have both supported decentralization, i.e. supranational and national policies encourage more regional development and local decision-making. A new model, termed "Europeanization," accounts for the new regionalism and multi-level governance in the EU. The three hypotheses tested in this thesis claim that if French higher education is becoming europeanized, then the number of actors involved in policy-making will increase, funding for higher education will become more diversified, and participation rates of regional universities will grow. …

Graduate-student teaching apprentices (TAs) in the psychology department at a university in Michigan conducted seminars in an advanced undergraduate-level psychology course. All were members of the department’s behavior analysis training system (BATS). BATS was an integrated series of courses and practicum experiences designed to achieve three main goals: recruiting, training, and maintaining the skills of competent behavior analysts. Twenty-five different tasks performed by the TAs were analyzed and measured prior to an intervention aimed at their improvement. Student Perceptions Of General Education At A Comprehensive University And Implications, Kenneth E. Nuss
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Using a case study method, I investigated how students negotiate their way through the general education program at a middle-western comprehensive university, and consequently I increased my understanding of the student perspective of this portion of their undergraduate curriculum. From 34 semistructured qualitative interviews with general education science students, I discovered that they could articulate only a dim notion of the purpose of general education. I also became aware that the university structure failed to clearly communicate to students that the faculty values the general education curriculum.
The following themes for further analysis emerged from the student interviews: the purpose …

The design will have no moving parts and will be restricted to an error of no more than {dollar}\pm{dollar}1 mm; Stereoscopic vision was chosen as the solution to profiling mainly because its use for this purpose is well documented. It is used in many fields that require range resolution. Mechanical engineers have used it in the development of robot vision for years and their applications range from control systems for robot …
