Journal of Innovation in Health Sciences Education

However, barriers such as scheduling, and discrepancy of learners’ knowledge and attitudes often pose challenges for educators to implement student-student (S-S) simulation-based interprofessional education (IPE). This study explored student perceptions about a novel simulation-based IPE mode in which students were paired with professionals from other disciplines.

Methods: The qualitative study explored 14 Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students’ perceptions about a simulated-learning activity with professionals from other disciplines. One-on-one semi-structured interviews with students from two private universities were analyzed using a constant comparative method …

Exploring The Experiences Of Deaf/Hard Of Hearing Students Seeking Healthcare At Gallaudet University, Shane Carrizales

Undergraduate University Honors Capstones

Currently, there is not much known about the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HH) college student population's experience of learning about and navigating the healthcare system both as young adults and as college students. As an added challenge, Deaf/HH individuals often experience additional communication barriers. The purpose of this project was to explore the experiences of Deaf/hard of hearing students seeking healthcare at Gallaudet University. This researcher facilitated two workshops that provided education in …

Fortunately, we developed a unique sense of community as new faculty stemming from Regis University’s Manresa Experience. The Manresa Experience exposed us to Jesuit Values, provided networking opportunities with colleagues, and introduced a togetherness that would help unite us against two unforgiving viruses. The first virus plagued Regis University in Fall 2019, when a cyberattack crippled our entire network security. As new faculty members, we were unable to utilize valuable resources that would …
