Prior to Maine, Roberts served assistant coaching stints at the University of North Carolina, University of Illinois and Central Michigan.

The 1991-92 season will present new challenges for both the men’s and women’s teams. There are some new and powerful dual meet opponents to confront, such as the University of Connecticut. Most importantly, there is a new season-ending event, the North Atlantic Conference Championships, in addition to the New England Championships. The edition highlighted the accomplishments of 125 alumni to include men and women who made a contribution to a wide range of fields -- engineers, physicians, novelists, Olympians, mountain climbers, photographers, politicians, foresters, farmers, economists, educators, and soldiers. Selections were made by a committee of alumni in an effort to represent the spirit of the university -- one of innovation, vision, and service.

The so-called PC agenda on women's studies, ethnic studies, gay and lesbian issues, Eastern history, and the recruitment and retention of minority students and faculty has attracted considerable heat on may of our nation;s compuses - even though PC-ism occupies the attention of just a small miniority of individuals on both sides of the issue.

Last spring, students in a Child Development and Family Relations Research Methods class conducted a random survey among third- and fourth-year male students at the University of Maine to begin to determine the rate of sexual harassment on campus and the men's perceptions of sexual harassment. The 14-women who designated the survey were well-versed in the liturature concerning sexual harassment. All of them had first-hand knowledge of harassmenet.

There are derogatory jokes and name-calling. Threats and realities of physical violence. Harassment. All are prejudicial actions against a minority of the population. At issue is not race, color, religion, gender, age or nationality. At issue is sexual orientation.
