Ideally, higher education is a realm in which students can freely explore themselves and discover what it is they choose to focus on for the remainder of their lives. As such, higher education functions as a setting that not only promotes this but readily provides opportunities to confront and reevaluate one’s long held ideals. As students progress in their education they become closer to graduation and becoming a fully-realized member of society. Effects Of Peer Mentoring On Types Of Mentor Support, Program Satisfaction And Graduate Student Stress: A Dyadic Perspective, Ellen A. Ensher, Elisa J. Grant-Vallone

Examines the effects of a graduate student peer-mentoring program from the perspectives of both members of the mentoring dyad, the mentors and proteges. Results indicate that peer mentoring provides students with both increased levels of psychosocial and instrumental support, and that those with high levels of support are more satisfied with their peer mentoring relationships.

Critical Influences On Sexual Minority College Males' Meaning-Making Of Their Multiple Identities, Daniel Tillapaugh

This grounded theory study explored the critical influences on college sexual minority males’ meaning-making of their multiple identities. Twenty-six cisgender males attending colleges and universities within the United States and Canada were interviewed and provided journal responses to specific prompts. Four themes emerged, including: involvement in LGBT-affirming spaces, intimate relationships with other males, involvement in student leadership positions, and ongoing exposure to heterosexism and homophobia.

Professor De Meyer became the fourth president of SMU in September 2010. A leader and well-known scholar in management studies, his research interests include manufacturing and technology strategy, management of R&D and innovation, management under conditions of high uncertainty and for novel projects, management and innovation in Asia, the globalisation of Asian firms, and e-readiness in Europe.
