Environmental health and public health are profoundly local. The Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs (AEHAP) firmly agrees and for this reason, it is important to have local environmental health experts who know the pulse of their communities. AEHAP believes in supporting the advanced scientific education of environmental health in these communities through people from these communities. Accordingly, AEHAP has sought to promote and support accredited environmental health programs among a diverse cross-section of the U.S. higher education landscape. "We Just Treat Everyone The Same": Lgbtq Aquatic Management Strategies, Barriers And Implementation, Austin R. Anderson, Eric Knee, William D. Ramos, Tiffany Monique Quash
International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education
This study examined the management of aquatic venues in a number of areas (facilities, programming, human resource management, marketing, policies) as it pertains to LGBTQ participants and participation. The study utilized in-depth semi-structured interviews with 16 aquatic managers to examine steps that are currently being taken (or lack thereof) when it comes to creating environments that are perceived to be open, or closed, to LGBTQ participants. A grounded theory-based process of data collection and analysis resulted in emergent themes. Diverse Pathways? The Impact Of A Federal Investment In Health Professions Programs On Enrollment Of Underserved Students, Heather L. Fox

Purpose: This study examined one case of a federal human capital investment in health professions education by comparing enrollment patterns of underserved students in health professions programs of study in a consortium of community colleges before and after they received a $19.6 million U.S. Department of Labor grant. Method: Pearson's chi-square tests of independence were used to analyze in the proportion of underserved students across the consortium who enrolled in health professions programs of study prior to and after receiving funding and to examine students’ enrollments by program of study length.
