Los orígenes de la Universidad Cundinamarca Seccional Girardot se remontan al año de 1972, mediante Ordenanza Número 14, expedida por la Asamblea Departamental de Cundinamarca que, en principio se llamó Instituto Técnico Universitario de Cundinamarca (ituc) y pesados en los terrenos donados por la señora Amelia Barrios de Perdomo, Escritura Pública N.° 017 de enero 20 de 1941, para el funcionamiento de una institución dedicada al área de la salud, sin embargo, luego de que el hospital San Rafael funcionara por un tiempo y dejara el predio, la Universidad los tomados.

Caminatas, excursiones, senderismo, son actividades recreativas que rompen rutinas de trabajo, compromisos diarios, e inundan de alegría y ánimo a quienes participan en ellas, permitiendo de paso conocer y disfrutar paisajes, tener contacto con el verde de la naturaleza, respirar aire limpio , y compartir la integración en familia, con amigos y vecinos. Por ser estas de baja exigencia física, tienen un favor que no es necesario contar con entrenamiento de súper atletas, recomendándose, eso sí, estar en buen estado de salud. Por lo que son incluidos niños y adultos mayores.

The purpose of this capstone project is to analyze the outcomes of an occupation-based wellness program which aims to address the problem of a lack of wellness promotion programs for community-dwelling older adults. Through structured programming older-adults demonstrated increased participation in leisure activities contributing to positive health and wellness. As the older adult population continues to grow, there is a need to engage community-dwelling older adult populations in wellness promotion through leisure activities. For this purpose, a quantitative approach examines the outcomes of program development from older adults' perspectives through a the CHAMPS Older Adult Physical Activity Questionnaire.

Approximately 17% of children from the ages six to 17 in the U.S. have a treatable mental health disorder, however, of those children, 70% have not received appropriate mental health care to address their mental health problems (MHP) (American Academy of Family Physicians, 2019; Mental Health Foundation, 2016). The severity of MHP identified within the literature points to a distinct need for mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention to address those needs (Albuquerque et al., 2020).
