Mental Healthcare Differences Between The United States, Costa Rica, And Sweden, Michaela Diehm
Honors Theses
Countries such as the United States, Costa Rica, and Sweden differ in the ways that they approach treatment of mental health disorders, which is due to the structure of their healthcare as well as the culture, affordability, accessibility, and type of treatment that is available to the people of that country. A literature review did not reveal a comparison of the three countries related to the topic of mental healthcare, nor use of the three selected countries to review their structures to determine the best approach to combating mental disorders before. Using Drama Therapy To Foster Peer Support Among Nurse Leaders, Chyela Rowe
Expressive Therapies Dissertations
This study explored the use of drama therapy to support the social-emotional experiences of nurse leaders at a mid-sized regional hospital system in the Southeastern United States. Nurse leaders have experienced profound changes to their work environments in recent years and burnout has been at an all-time high among healthcare workers globally. Organizational supports for nurses and nurse leaders are both inadequate to meet the needs and under-resourced. The research questions explored 1) whether the drama therapy peer support initiative improved outcomes and 2) whether there was a significant relationship between measures, and 3) what nurse leaders described as facilitators …

Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, qualitative and quantitative data was collected and analyzed which included the community health needs assessment (CHNA) data from the rural county (RC) and a double-blind survey distributed to organizational members by the partnering organization, the rural hospital (RH). The data identified that access to healthcare is a critical need for RC. Additionally, …

Journey Of The State Budget, Karina Carmichael
Journey Of The State Budget, Karina Carmichael
Masters Theses/Capstone Projects
In attempts to make government fair and equitable, the process of any bill but especially the budget bill can be extremely convoluted and difficult to follow. I was able to learn how to navigate the system and understand the processes by which things happen at the statehouse.
The statehouse is filled with representatives of countless interest groups all fighting for their opinion of how things should be done. As demonstrated by this budget cycle, government can be a push and pull directed by politics, personal opinions, and countless other factors, which may result in nothing getting done.

Technological Iatrogenesis: The Manifestation Of Inadequate Organizational Planning And The Integration Of Health Information Technology., Patrick Albert Palmieri

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) views Health Information Technology (HIT) as an essential organizational prerequisite for the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost effective health services. However, HIT presents the proverbial double-edged sword in generating solutions to improve system performance while facilitating the genesis of novel iatrogenic problems. Incongruent organizational processes give rise to technological iatrogenesis or the unintended consequences to system integrity and the resulting organizational outcomes potentiated by incongruent organizational–technological interfaces. HIT is a disruptive innovation for health services organizations but remains an overlooked organizational development (OD) concern. Recognizing the technology–organizational misalignments that result from HIT adoption is …
