This presentation at ENUG(ExLibris Users from the Northeast US) discussed several integrations that Binghamton University has accomplished in the 5 months since they went live. New Self Check system from Bintech replacing bibliotheca units. Integrating with the Banner system for Faculty, Student, and staff loads and exporting fines and fee information to Banner. Publishing to Google Scholar, OCLC and other systems to automate updating of content to these services. Also discussed was how to load content into Primo VE.

With the wide availability and ever-changing nature of instructional technology, there is an increasing need for continuous professional development for educators. This workshop will describe a pilot program which offers an integrative approach to peer-led professional development and the use of instructional technology in college courses. Participants will interact with technology tools while planning ways to customize content-specific professional development to meet the needs of 21st century learners.

First Year Learning Communities (FYLC) at City Tech is structured to provide first-year students in linked courses an interdisciplinary learning experience. This approach creates opportunities for students to form bonds within the college community. A shared belief among faculty leaders in the potential for writing to transform the student experience led to the development of the “Our Stories” digital writing project. “Our Stories” offers FYLC students the opportunity to express their experiences in classes, seminars, lectures, study groups, and labs on the OpenLab, a digital platform for teaching, learning, and sharing. We'll discuss building an intentional culture of community into your classes and encouraging substantive engagement with social presence, socratic questions, and synchronous course elements.
