Impact Of Some Demographic And Organizational Variables On Grade Eight Science Students’ Performance, Saif Alneyadi

International Journal for Research in Education

This study examined the impact of some demographic and organizational variables (gender, school type, and parental involvement) on the performance of Grade 8 students in the 2015 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) assessment in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The study employed a mixed method design to determine if, and to what extent, these factors affected how the students performed in the assessment. The population for the present study comprised male and female students from 68 public and private schools (35 all-boys’ and 33 all-girls’ schools). The study sample consisted of 3400 students (1750 boys and 1650 girls) …

Blackboard Adoption In Efl Teaching: Instructors’ Acceptance And Use, Basmah Ali Abu-Ghararah Nov 2021

Blackboard Adoption In Efl Teaching: Instructors’ Acceptance And Use, Basmah Ali Abu-Ghararah

International Journal for Research in Education

This study aims to investigate the link between the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model (UTAUT) and the acceptance and use of Blackboard (BB) among English as a foreign language (EFL) instructors. The UTAUT model was employed to determine the strength of predictors for EFL instructors’ willingness to use BB for educational purposes. A questionnaire was administered to 80 EFL instructors at Taibah University. The results indicated that performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), and facilitating conditions (FC) positively and directly correlated with behavioral intention (BI) to adopt and use BB in language classes. However, this study …

Knowledge And Self-Efficacy Levels Of Technology Integration In Teaching Among Teacher Preparation Program Students At Taibah University, Hanaa E. Alharbi Aug 2021

Knowledge And Self-Efficacy Levels Of Technology Integration In Teaching Among Teacher Preparation Program Students At Taibah University, Hanaa E. Alharbi

International Journal for Research in Education

The purpose of this study was to examine levels of knowledge and self-efficacy related to technology integration among students of a teacher preparation program at Taibah University. Many studies have explored factors of pre-service teachers that might affect the use of technology in teaching, however, no study has been found to address the topic of the current study. This study applies the Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) as a theoretical framework. The sample was randomly selected and consisted of 106 female students, who enrolled in a teacher preparation program at Taibah University, Medina. Results of the study showed that …

The Effectiveness Of Developing A Call Curriculum Using Tesol Technology Standards On Providing English Language Students With Technological Competencies "This Article Is Extracted From An Unpublished Phd Dissertation By The First Author", Mashael Mubark Al-Qhtani, Mohmmed Ibrahim Al-Zakari Aug 2021

The Effectiveness Of Developing A Call Curriculum Using Tesol Technology Standards On Providing English Language Students With Technological Competencies "This Article Is Extracted From An Unpublished Phd Dissertation By The First Author", Mashael Mubark Al-Qhtani, Mohmmed Ibrahim Al-Zakari

International Journal for Research in Education

The purpose of this study was to develop Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) curriculum using TESOL technology standards and examine its effect on providing the technological competencies for female students at the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Imam Mohammad University. A descriptive-analytic approach has been used through the analysis of CALL curriculum documents. Moreover، the study utilized a quasi-experimental method for implementing the intervention of the study on a sample consisting of 63 students randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group of 31 studying the developed curriculum and a control group of 32 studying the regular curriculum. Data collection …

The Effect Of Using Web Quests And Learning Platforms For Teaching Mathematics On Developing The Mathematical Power Among Eighth Grade Students, Dr. Mofeed Ahmad Abumosa, Dr. Jafar Awad Saleh Feb 2021

The Effect Of Using Web Quests And Learning Platforms For Teaching Mathematics On Developing The Mathematical Power Among Eighth Grade Students, Dr. Mofeed Ahmad Abumosa, Dr. Jafar Awad Saleh

International Journal for Research in Education

The study aimed to identify the effect of using web-quests and learning platforms to develop mathematical power among eighth-grade students. The study adopted the semi-experimental approach. A ninety-eight graders in the second semester 2018-2019 participated in this study. Participants were randomly distributed into three groups. The first group represented the first experimental group (web-quests), the second group represented the second experimental group (learning platforms), and the last group represented the control group (traditional). An achievement for mathematical power test was developed. The results showed statistical differences at (p < 0.05) among the average scores of the three study groups. Results showed that the second experimental group (learning platforms) was better than other groups. Moreover, the first experimental group (web-quests) was better than the third one (traditional). Recommendations to adopt learning platforms in teaching mathematics may help in developing mathematical power.
