The strategic leadership center of a senior military service college collaborated with an elite law school to provide leadership development to senior law school students. The focus was an International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise set in the South China Sea. Due to an unexpected global health pandemic the course was forced online to a virtual environment. The strategic leadership center gathered data from volunteer students and their mentors to determine the impact of the virtual setting. Middle School Teachers’ Perceptions Of Homework Assignments Effective At Increasing Student Homework Completion, Jennifer E. Keck

The purpose of this qualitative exploratory research study with a phenomenological research design was to gain an understanding of the phenomenon regarding which homework assignments, as perceived by middle school teachers, most effectively resulted in students submitting completed assignments. This study fills a gap and helps explain which homework assignments are more effective at increasing homework assignment completion for middle school students. The constructivist theory guided the conceptual framework. Data analysis was conducted on data collected though surveys, in-depth interviews with middle school teachers, and a review of archival homework samples. Children who are English as a Foreign Language Learners (EFL) and/or English language learners (ELLs) are missing critical content-specific learning. These students are transitioning into mainstream classrooms, lacking basic literacy foundation skills, including vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, phonology, and meaning, which is preventing them from accessing grade-level content. Competency-based education (CBE) is an initiative that is popular across higher education but has been used with varying results. Much of the literature illustrates efficacy of certain CBE programs and leadership styles during implementation. However, existing research typically includes data from administrators, students, and faculty. This case study of a southern two-year college sought to determine perceptions of leadership during implementation of a large-scale initiative like CBE. Based on previous research and recommendations, business specialists, information technology representatives, and student support service representatives were included for a more holistic understanding.
