Florida Statewide Symposium: Best Practices in Undergraduate Research

FSU’s Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement is charged with engaging undergraduates in research and other academic High Impact Practices. This expanded focus allows the integration of research experience within HIPs, especially global engagement, service learning, and innovation/entrepreneurship. While the CRE continues to bolster its community-engaged research efforts, this presentation details our current relationships with campus partners (Center for Leadership and Social Change), the Tallahassee and Florida non-profit and start-up community (UROP), and the global community (Gap Year Fellows/IDEA Grants). The audience will develop ideas for collaborating with partners engaged within communities to support research opportunities for undergraduates.

The researchers’ goal was to design a project implemented in Fall 2018 which studies the effect of using a Helicopter Basic Aircrew Training Device (BATD) on helicopter flight student progression and retention. Measuring the efficacy of the BATD will allow ERAU to determine the need for purchase of additional BATDs in the future. The design included the methodology and preparation of all of the materials required to undertake the Fall project. National Youth Advocacy and Resilience Conference

This survey was initiated to explore the perceptions and daily practices of Applied behavior Analytic ABA) by educators supporting exceptional learners in public and private school settings in Pennsylvania. This survey explores the degree to which educators are trained, feel confident in and actually carry out a range evidenced based practices following an ABA approach. Results are also presented in regards to barriers that educators feel limit the delivery of ABA based approaches and undermine the fidelity of interventions once introduced in their professional settings.
