Literacy Practice and Research

How can I reflect on my practice as a literacy teacher? “I want to be the type of teacher who inspires great writing from my students, and makes them yearn for more knowledge.”

As a reading professor, I am inspired by the words Justin wrote in the pre-project survey at the beginning of the semester. In the midst of a pandemic, how could I create a learning experience to facilitate a literacy collaboration with local middle school students? I planned the community literacy partnership in the context of a College of Education grant written the previous year. This format anticipated …

The Caring factor was the highest endorsed factor by both college students and faculty in all data collections. A paired sample t-test revealed that the Usefulness factor was rated statistically different by faculty and students. These data can be used to inform programmatic decisions and course design in the university’s education department.

The classical economists of the 19th-century had the idea that individuals choose to maximize profits in every relation that they ever get involved in. Both the contemporary economists and educationists have equally held strongly to this belief (Kottak, 2005). For this reason, both individual psychologists and economists have shown a great concern about how best to achieve motivation (in the industrial/ economic setting) in order to produce the desired results of profit maximization (Ibid, 2005). Such a concern is, nevertheless, a worthwhile concern since productivity can be said to be the raison detre of any management and that of any …
